Botox Injections

by | Apr 29, 2023 | Cosmetic surgery

Botox injections are shots of injection of purified botulinum toxin that is used to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm, smooth face wrinkles, treat neck spasms, excess sweating, overactive bladder, migraine, and many other conditions.

The most important point you have to know regarding botox injections is that it’s a prescribed medication that should be only applied by an experienced healthcare professional within an accredited facility, and you should not apply this medication within beauty centers or an unaccredited facility to ensure its safety and efficacy

How do Botox injections work?

As we mentioned earlier, botox injections contain a chemical material called Botulinum toxin, which is a certain protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium and its related species.

This toxin blocks certain chemical signals within the neuromuscular junction nerves that are responsible for muscle contraction. This leads to relieving muscle spasms and stiffness and relaxes the muscle contractions.

How is this toxin injected?

Botox injections are locally applied to the selected area that needs to be treated, so the way of injection varies according to the affected area.

For example, It is injected directly into the affected muscles for treating lazy eyes, muscle stiffness or spasms,  face wrinkles, and migraine headache where it is injected in the such case into the muscles of the head and neck.

While, It is injected intradermally ( into the skin) to treat excessive sweating, into the salivary glands to treat drooling or excess salivation, and injected directly into the bladder for overactive bladder treatment.

How could Botox injections enhance your beauty?

Getting older is a natural stage in your life, aging signs are facts, and lines and wrinkles formation in your face as a result of laughing and repeated facial expressions all are indications of a happy life you spent.

Fortunately thanks to Botox injections that could through a minimally invasive procedure minimize the signs of aging, regain your natural beauty, and maintain younger-looking skin that lasts for months.

The most popular cosmetic injectable can enhance your look through:

Reduce facial wrinkles and fine lines

We target in Tagmeel Academy key areas in your face or neck to relax the muscles to reduce the impact of the repetitive motions in developing fine lines and wrinkles in your face and neck.

Reduce acne

Botox injections are not restricted to regaining a youthful look for older ages, it’s also used by younger adults. Shots of Botox provide a fast and effective reduction in pore size and sebum production to enjoy clearer skin and acne free.

Tone down the shine

While most people think of sweat glands that are found only under their arms, excessive face sweating is the cause that makes you look too shiny. Botox injections are an effective treatment for regulating excessive sweating in both the face and scalp.

Smooth away smile lines and lips

In addition to the reduction of the wrinkles around your eyes and brows, botox injections are used to remove fine lines around the mouth and tiny wrinkles around the lips to create a smooth and dynamic smile.

When would you notice the results?

The neurotoxin effect is not immediate, it takes from 3-5 days to start working, and you would feel the full and final results within 7-10 days.

We advise in Tagmeel Academy our patients wait for a full 2 weeks after their treatment to ensure full action and full muscle nerve impulse blockage.

How long do the results last?

Unfortunately, Botox doesn’t last forever. Eventually,  the neurotoxin action will wear off and the nerves will regain their ability to resend neural- signals to the muscles to contract.

Everyone has a unique experience regarding the results and their duration but in general,

Botox injections lasting around  3-4 months might be longer or shorter.

What are other uses of Botox injections?

Always popular in people’s minds is the cosmetic use of Botox injections, to relax the facial muscles which are responsible for smirk lines and facial wrinkles. But botox shots are used for treating several medical conditions that are resistant to routine remedies, such as:

Neck spasm

A neck spasm is a sudden pain and tightness as a result of unclear causes in the neck muscles, usually associated with some activities or repeated movements. For example, patients are more likely to have a neck spasm when slouching, yawning, working at a computer, looking at their mobile, or sleeping.

This painful condition might force the neck muscles to contract in an uncontrolled manner. Which leads the head to twist or turn into a painful position. The condition is medically known as cervical dystonia.

Botox injected directly in the neck muscle shows a high effect in the reduction of neck pain, and spasms, and also improves the range of neck motion after whiplash.

Other muscle spasms

Botox injections are effective not only in relieving neck spasms but also in other muscle spasms all over the body such as muscle spasms that cause eye twitching, nervous system conditions that cause limbs to drag in toward the center of the body, and cerebral palsy.

Lazy eye

Lazy eyes or misaligned eyes, is resulted mainly from the imbalance in the muscles that are responsible for eye movement.

Ophthalmologists used to inject Botox around or under the eyes for lazy eyes and many other eye conditions such as eyelid twitching, drooping eyelids,  excessive tearing or excessive eye dryness, and squints in those who are at high risk from surgery or general anesthesia.

Sweating

Botox is injected intradermally into the skin for those suffering from excessive sweating  (hyperhidrosis even) even when they’re not hot or working a lot.

Migraine

Botox shots are injected directly into the muscles of the head and neck for migraine reduction for those who have chronic migraine (15 or more days with headaches a month) and are unresponsive to routine treatments. But botox shots needed to be repeated about four times a year to retain the benefit.

Overactive bladder

Botox injections are used to treat urinary incontinence resulting from overactive bladder.
