by | Jan 10, 2023 | liposuction

Fat accumulates in specific places of the body and is not eliminated even after following a diet or exercising, and liposuction has appeared, which is a kind of cosmetic surgery to treat this problem and achieve the dream of an ideal body. Perfect body and procedures are characterized by the fact that they do not require surgery and do not leave a surgical trace, and give you a perfect body in one session. As for the duration of the liposuction process, let us know about it.

How long will liposuction last?

The liposuction lasts according to the amount of fat and the area being treated, when targeting the neck area it will take 40 minutes, and the abdominal area may take an hour. However, in general, the process takes less than three hours, and it is not recommended to exceed this period to avoid complications and a long recovery period. Below is an estimate of the duration of liposuction from different parts of the body:

  • Buttock fat: 45 minutes.
  • Chin and neck fat: forty minutes.
  • Belly, leg, or back fat: about an hour.
  • Arm fat: at least an hour to treat both arms.
  • As for liposuction of the whole body and re-injecting it in other places, the process takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

    What is liposuction?

Body shapes differ depending on genetic factors and genes, so fat accumulates in different places that differ from one person to another, and many times these fat gatherings are a source of annoyance for some people or an obstacle to achieving a specific goal, for example, lower belly fat and thigh fat that are difficult to get rid of even with exercises sports, what is the solution?

Here comes the role of liposuction, as it aims to remove stubborn layers of fat in the body from specific areas, to obtain the desired texture and achieve a balance between the different parts of the body.

What distinguishes the operation is that it is a safe procedure, and it is performed under local anesthesia in a short period.

Its results last for a lifetime, as the fat cells that are removed in the process do not return to the same treated areas even with weight gain, but the body may store fat in other places if an appropriate diet is not followed.

The most important information that the doctor needs before the operation

    • The doctor will ask you about your medical history, such as the diseases you have had, the previous surgeries you have had, any complications that occurred during these operations, such as anesthesia problems, and finally the medications you are taking.
    • It is important to tell your doctor if you have any allergies, or if you have vascular or bleeding problems.
    • Tell the doctor about the places that cause you embarrassment or make you feel uncomfortable, as well as the results that you aspire to obtain from the procedure.
    • It is important to know that liposuction from one area of the body may affect another area, so the doctor may suggest to you what needs to be modified besides the area that you want to target.

      Stages of recovery

Liposuction recovery time depends on the amount of fat removed and treated. Recovery from fat removal surgery can take several weeks or months, depending on how long it takes for swelling to go away and for your body to repair itself after surgery.

Recovery from liposuction will be different because everyone’s body recovers differently. As a result, some people experience little or no pain, while others experience severe pain.

The results of laser or vaser liposuction appear immediately after the session, but the results may not appear clear due to swelling of the skin, or the appearance of some redness that hinders the results, but after two weeks of the session, you can notice the full results and see your body beautiful and harmonious without defects.

      Hours after liposuction

          • Immediately after the surgery, the surgeon will tie the area with gauze and wrap it to prevent possible bleeding or swelling while wearing the corset.
          • The surgeon will also explain the care of the liposuction incision site before leaving the facility. These instructions may include taking antibiotics or painkillers for several days after the operation.
          • If you experience excessive bleeding or swelling, contact your doctor immediately as this could indicate an infection related to your procedure.

The first three days after liposuction

          • The first few days after liposuction are crucial to safely recovering from the surgery and preventing any complications afterward.
          • During that period, you should avoid strenuous activities and exercise so that your body has time to rest and heal properly after the operation.

      1-2 weeks after liposuction

      • The swelling, bruising, and pain of liposuction will subside during this period. Your doctor may recommend using ice packs and taking ibuprofen or Tylenol to relieve discomfort.
      • You should also wear loose-fitting clothing, avoid strenuous exercise and use caution when bending or lifting objects.

      3-5 weeks after liposuction

      • By the fifth week after the procedure, most of the swelling has subsided, and your body has begun its natural healing process, including the formation of scar tissue and the production of collagen.
      • However, you may feel some numbness in the treated area as the nerves reconnect with the surface of the skin during this time.
      • You should continue to wear loose clothing while doing light exercise but avoid strenuous exercises such as jogging or heavy weight lifting until six weeks after the operation.

The sixth week and after liposuction

      • The swelling subsides, and you begin to see the results of your liposuction treatment. However, you will continue to receive regular check-ups with your plastic surgeon until all swelling has resolved, which usually takes 6 to 12 months.

Duration of wearing the corset after liposuction

Liposuction patients need to wear a compression corset after the session for not less than 72 hours, so that the body maintains its new shape, and until this situation continues after removing the corset.
